Did you know that on October 5, 1582 ... never existed?

Yes, but why that never existed on October 5, 1582 ?. Good Year 46. C. Julius Caesar ended the lunar calendar and instituted the Julian calendar, a solar calendar which established the length of the year as 365.25 days and contained 30 months and 31 days, except February, which was 28 days and 29 in leap years. But the astronomer in charge of calculating the length of the year is spent 11 minutes and 14 seconds.

At that time, the error did not matter, but the mid-sixteenth century had 10 calendar days in advance to stations. In 1582 Pope Gregory XIII (1502-1585) ordered review the schedule, which became known as the Gregorian, and that year abolished the days between 5 and 15 October ".

An example of this 'leap' forward was Teresa de Jesus, who died on October 4, 1582 and was buried the 15th of the same month, though it was actually the next day.

We also have the example of Cervante and Shakespeare. Cervantes officially died on April 23, 1616 ... the Gregorian calendar, which already prevailed in Spain. Shakespeare also did, in fact, on April 23 ... Julian calendar (May 3 on the Gregorian), still in force in England. That is, ten days later, that such overlap ceases to not be noticeable.

It is said that the people took to the streets outraged forming what we today call mass demonstrations: for they had taken ten days of life.

Not thinking about what would happen if armaria or something. : D
